Traveling from Washington State to Colorado Springs towing my Airstream and heard a scratchy noise coming from the front end. Stopped at Les Schwab Tire Center for a brake inspection, they pulled the tires and said everything was fine. Noise still present, now the real story. Called around trying to get into another shop before we headed back to Washington State but everybody was booked-up for several days including Ledom’s but Rod & Butch went out of their way to get me scheduled for service the next morning not wanting me to be unsafe on the road. Mechanic Rick performed a road test (using a diagnostic meter to verify all engine parameters were correct) and verified the scratchy noise. Once on the lift, it was easy to see the left front wheel bearing had failed and was on the verge of catastrophic failure. Had I attempted to pull the trailer back to Washington I would have had a failure. All I can say is Thank God for Rod, Butch, Rich! After reading Ledom's reviews online, I decided to have the truck towed there immediately. Rick, Butch and Mitch were all very professional and took the time to explain the complexity of the fuel system as well as the damage DEF contamination can cause. Honestly, I was expecting the worst but after careful inspection, the techs verified only the low pressure side of the fuel system was contaminated. They cleaned the tank, lines and replaced the damaged filters and pump. I was back on the road in a short time with the truck running great again! I walked into their shop expecting the worst but walked away knowing that I made the right decision to use Ledom's. Their team proved to be honest, fair, and very professional. It’s hard to find good people. Even harder to find good mechanics. And in Colorado Springs, extremely hard to find good, diesel mechanics to work on a light duty diesel truck (2017, Ford Superduty). Well, if you’re looking one, allow me to point you to Ledom’s Diesel Repair. It’s rare for me to endorse a company. It’s not that I don’t want too. It’s just rare to find excellent service in this industry. Ledom’s Diesel Repair receives a rare 6 out of 5 stars! Had the MIL (engine light) come on, and took it to Autozone to read the codes. Glow plugs. Scheduled service at my normal location (not Ledom’s). Always seems to be a hassle to get in there. And after that, they, more often than not, forget that I made an appointment. Which then seems to relegate me to the “we’ll see if we can squeeze you in” category. I wanted to find a local company and so I called Ledom’s and got a hold of Butch. Not only did Ledom’s get me in the next day for the diagnostic part. They fixed it the following day. A full week before the other company could even get me in for the diagnostic! In addition to the repair, my truck was washed! Admittedly, they can’t always do that because of scheduling. But they try hard to do it. And then... two weeks later, I’m thinking, “My DEF must be getting low, I should probably fill it.” I check my DEF gauge. Yup, it’s full! That was a complete surprise. I worked with Butch and Richie and they were both… fantastic. They were both old enough to know stuff and young enough to get’r done. They both seem to have learned the lessons we all must learn to not cut corners and do a good job. It’s better in the long run! The location and building were clean and had a bit of nostalgia. It took me back to the garages I went to with my pops! Except, much cleaner. Listen. If you need to get some work done on any light-duty diesel truck. Give them a try.
