4-Wheel Drive Repair & All-Wheel Drive Service and Repair

Your 4WD or AWD system is what keeps you moving when the road turns to snow, mud, gravel, or ice. It is also the most complex part of your drivetrain, with more moving parts than a two-wheel-drive vehicle and more ways for a small problem to turn into an expensive one. At Ledom’s, we service and repair every part of that system, from the transfer case to the CV joints, on trucks, SUVs, and cars.

If your vehicle is grinding on turns, vibrating at highway speed, popping out of gear, throwing an AWD warning light, or refusing to shift into four-wheel drive, bring it in. Those symptoms almost always trace back to one of the components below, and catching them early is the difference between a repair and a replacement.

4-Wheel Drive & All-Wheel Drive Service and Repair In Colorado Springs

Transfer Case Service and Repair

The transfer case splits power between your front and rear axles, and it is the heart of any 4WD or AWD system. When it wears or runs low on fluid, you feel it as grinding, whining, hard shifting, or a truck that will not engage four-wheel drive at all. We diagnose transfer case problems, rebuild or replace worn units, and get the power splitting correctly again.

Transfer Case Fluid Service

Transfer case fluid breaks down over time and picks up metal and heat, and old fluid is one of the most common reasons a transfer case fails early. We drain the old fluid, inspect it for signs of internal wear, and refill with the correct fluid for your vehicle. This is one of the cheapest services you can do to protect one of the most expensive parts of your drivetrain.

Differential Service and Repair

Your differentials let your wheels turn at different speeds through a corner while still sending power to the ground. A worn differential shows up as a howl or whine that changes with speed, a clunk when you accelerate, or metal in the fluid. We service front and rear differentials, replace gears and bearings, and set the correct gear pattern so the axle runs quiet and lasts.

Driveshaft Service and Repair

The driveshaft carries power from the transfer case to your axles, and a bad one makes itself known as a vibration that gets worse as you speed up, or a clunk when you pull away from a stop. We inspect driveshafts, replace worn U-joints and center bearings, and balance the shaft so the vibration goes away for good.

CV Joint and CV Axle Repair

CV joints let your front (and on many AWD vehicles, rear) axles deliver power while the wheels steer and move over bumps. The classic warning sign is a clicking or popping noise when you turn, often caused by a torn CV boot that let the grease out and dirt in. We replace CV boots before the damage spreads and rebuild or replace worn CV axles.

Locking Hub Service and Repair

Locking hubs, manual or automatic, connect your front wheels to the drivetrain when you engage four-wheel drive. When they stick, corrode, or fail, your front wheels do not lock in and you lose the four-wheel drive you are counting on. We service, repair, and replace locking hubs so the system engages every time you need it.

Viscous Coupler Service and Repair

Many AWD vehicles use a viscous coupler to send power to a second axle automatically when the wheels start to slip. When it wears out, you get binding or hop in tight turns, driveline vibration, or an AWD system that no longer reacts when you lose traction. We diagnose viscous coupler problems and replace the unit to restore proper all-wheel-drive behavior.

Drivetrain Diagnostics

Not every drivetrain problem announces itself clearly. A vibration, a noise, or a warning light can come from any point in the system, and guessing at parts gets expensive fast. We run a full drivetrain diagnostic to pinpoint the actual source, whether it is the transfer case, a differential, a driveshaft, a CV joint, a hub, or a coupler, so you pay to fix the real problem and not the symptom.

Why Bring Your 4WD or AWD Vehicle to Ledom’s

Four-wheel and all-wheel drive systems reward attention and punish neglect. A torn CV boot ignored becomes a failed axle. Skipped transfer case fluid becomes a failed transfer case. We know how these systems fit together, we diagnose the real cause with a plan and stop short of throwing parts at it, and we service everything from daily-driver SUVs to work trucks that earn their keep in four-wheel drive.

If your 4WD or AWD vehicle is making a noise, feeling off, or showing a warning light, contact Ledom’s to schedule service. Catching a drivetrain problem early is always cheaper than fixing it after it fails.
